The Institute for Contemporary Leadership(ICL) hosted Sally Helgesen, renowned thought leader on women in leadership and co-author of Women Rise (written with Marshall Goldsmith, out April 10). The event, sponsored by Epstein Becker & Green, was held at Time Warner Inc. and was part of the Contemporary Leadership Talk Series. Helgesen discussed the historical arc of women in leadership, the implications of the adoption of many so-called “female” characteristics into our societal understanding of what strong leadership looks like, the impact of the #metoo dynamic and the progress still needed.
Following her talk Helgesen was joined by a panel, moderated by ICL’s Beth Gullette, that included Subha Barry, Senior VP & Managing Director of Working Mother Media and forerunner in developing women leaders and Diversity & Inclusion as well as Contemporary Leadership Advisor Senior Consultant Scott Slipy, former CHRO at Jabil and senior HR executive at Cisco, Microsoft, and United Health Group. Attendees included senior leaders from companies such as Google, MetLife, BBC, Alvarez & Marsal, Capco, Morgan Stanley, CBS, Estee Lauder and Time Warner Inc.
